Important Update About Your Natural Gas Rate
City of Hubbard Natural Gas Aggregation Program

Dear Hubbard Resident,

We want to keep you informed about an important update regarding your natural gas service through the City of Hubbard’s aggregation program.

As you may know, in 2024 the City selected Eastern Natural Gas & Power (Eastern PNG) to supply natural gas at a fixed rate of $3.60 per Mcf for 12 months—from August 2024 to July 2025.

However, due to unexpected changes in the energy market—including a colder-than-usual winter, rising gas prices, and shifts in trade policies—Eastern PNG is discontinuing our aggregate rate.

What’s Changing:

  • Starting April 2025 through July 2025, the fixed rate will transition to a variable rate through Enbridge (formally Dominion).
  • This new rate will still offer savings, as it will be $0.05 per Mcf lower than the monthly Standard Choice Offer (the default variable utility rate).
  • Gas usage typically drops in spring and summer, so the impact on your bill should be minimal.

Why This Is Happening:

The market has been unpredictable, and the future of aggregate pricing is uncertain. The City carefully reviewed all available options, determined and negotiated with Eastern PNG on the $0.05 discount per Mcf variable rate until the end of our contract (July 2025 / August Billing).

What You Can Do:

Trumbull County has a gas aggregate for $3.99 per Mcf through February of 2026 (1-844-809-6834).

You’re not locked in! Over the coming months we encourage you to visit Energy Choice Ohio – Natural Gas to explore other gas supplier options if you choose.

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to providing affordable, reliable service to our community. If you have any questions or want to explore your options, feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,
The City of Hubbard
